Why is the local food industry so hard to break into?

Posted September 28, 2018 04:09:00The American food industry is on the brink of a crisis that could threaten the future of the food industry as well as the livelihoods of millions of Americans, according to an analysis released Wednesday.

In a report, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) found that the food supply chain is currently more than 300 million jobs.

The report also found that while the food and beverage industry has grown by more than 30 percent over the past decade, the food service industry has lost more than 70 percent of its jobs.

The IMS report comes as the United States struggles to recover from the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

The storm has left more than 8 million Americans without power for more than three weeks, causing the country to shut down more than 100 airports and shut down nearly a third of the country’s food production.
