Why can’t I buy food on the internet?
Can’t buy food online?
That’s the question we’re all wondering as we watch the rollout of a new, government-mandated food stamp system in the US.
What will it look like?
How much will it cost?
And how do you actually use the system?
We asked a panel of experts to give us the scoop on the food stamp rollout, the food challenges and the unexpected consequences.
The results were pretty interesting.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for food banks to become a more significant part of the food system,” said Kevin Sussman, who has been working on food stamps since 2013 and currently runs an online food bank in New York.
“You can actually actually have the opportunity to get a product from the food bank that you could not otherwise.”
Sussman said the system will enable people to purchase the food they need in grocery stores, but also offers some unique options for those with special dietary needs.
“For those people that need to get things that aren’t available through the system, the system provides the option to actually get things through the program,” he said.
“The food stamp program is about ensuring that all Americans have access to a healthy diet.”
Samantha Burd, who works in the food distribution sector for the United Way of Southern California, said she found the system useful for those that are “under-served”.
“Food is one of the first things that comes to mind when you think about food assistance,” she said.
“So I thought that this would be a good place to help people with the food that they need.”
But what is it?
Food stamps have been around for a long time, and they were originally meant to help the poor, but the government realised the system wasn’t working well enough.
“The main thing that makes the food stamps program unique is that it is very targeted, that it targets low income families and people of color, and that it doesn’t just help those in need of food but also people with disabilities, and people with mental illness,” said Sam Riegelman, a food aid expert at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
The system has been controversial.
It has been criticised for being a cash grab for the government, with some arguing that the money goes to the poorest people and food banks aren’t really food banks at all.
And food banks are worried that the program may be too expensive, which is why they have launched a campaign calling for the cost to be reduced.
But the system is expected to be a success, with the US Department of Agriculture projecting that the food assistance program will bring in more than $1bn in revenue in 2021.
“We’re hoping that the number of food stamp recipients will increase, that the overall number of Americans receiving food assistance will decrease, and therefore, the cost of food assistance to be lower,” said Riegelmans.
“But we’re still a long way from meeting our goals.”
What is the food issue?
Food is a big part of American life.
It’s what keeps us going, helps us eat and keeps us alive.
And it’s also one of those things that food banks want to be part of.
“Food banks and other food pantries provide a critical lifeline to the millions of Americans who are struggling to make ends meet,” said Jessica Schulz, director of communications at the Food Bank Institute, in a statement.
“Many of them rely on food assistance as a primary source of income.
But we need the government to provide the right tools to make sure that the people who need food can get it, and the food banks can continue to serve people with a basic need.”
And why is it important?
Food banks have been struggling for years, with most of their funding coming from government.
That’s partly because many of the people they serve are people of colour, with low incomes.
And the federal government has been slow to implement many of its food aid policies, such as requiring people to work or even pay income taxes.
As a result, food banks have seen a dramatic increase in the number and number of people they’re helping.
And that’s not good for the food supply.
The food banks don’t have access, for example, to the vast amount of cash that the federal budget provides.
But with food stamps being phased out, the government has had to focus on making the program more affordable, by making it easier for people to qualify.
In 2021, the number will be almost double what it was in 2020, when the Food Stamp Program was set up.
The amount of money that food bank groups are getting from the government is growing at a rate of nearly 30 per cent a year, and Riegelmann expects the number to keep growing.
“It’s going to be really
