How to choose the right career for your food industry
Food-focused careers are growing in popularity as employers are seeking more diverse candidates, but some job candidates are still struggling to find the right job in a food-focused industry.

Read moreThe food industry is a $3.2 trillion industry, and according to a 2016 study by the Center for Sustainable Agriculture, about 30 percent of jobs in the food industry are food-related.
In a typical year, the industry employs more than 200,000 people, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
But many job seekers are struggling to break into the food-and-beverage industry, with many having difficulty finding work that’s appropriate for their skill set.
For many, the issue isn’t just a matter of a lack of opportunities or an abundance of qualified applicants.
Food-related companies have a higher turnover rate than other industries, and many employees are coming and going on a regular basis.
According to the Department of Justice, in 2015, the Food Safety and Inspection Service reported that more than 11,000 food-safety violations were reported in the U-10 category, a subset of the UH-1N category.
In addition, the department said that the number of food-safe violations was rising.
And there’s a lack in quality control for food.
According to a 2014 report by the UHS-2 program, the federal government reported that about half of food safety violations were not detected by inspectors or food inspectors, meaning that food products could be unsafe and potentially dangerous.
Additionally, many of the companies that do receive federal food safety approval, which means they have a food safety program in place, tend to not have strong food safety programs in place.
This is especially true of small- and medium-size companies, which can often be overlooked by large corporations and are often viewed as niche companies.
The issue of low pay can also lead to stress.
The National Labor Relations Board has found that many food-industry workers have experienced a lack or underpayment for hours worked.
Additionally the food sector has a higher unemployment rate than many other industries and there are concerns that companies may not be paying their employees the minimum wage that the federal minimum wage law requires.
And some employers may also be reluctant to pay overtime.
According the National Restaurant Association, in 2013, more than 3.5 million workers were eligible for a job that included food service, but only 3.2 million were employed full-time.
That means that an additional 936,000 workers were excluded from receiving a pay increase due to a food industry lockout.
In addition, many companies may use temporary workers to provide temporary services, such as cleaning or helping with sales, while the workers are off work.
In 2017, the UBS Food Institute reported that in 2017, there were 1.4 million restaurants employing more than 50 workers, while only 5.5 percent of those restaurants were full-service.
That was down from the number that had been in business for at least three decades.
The report also found that while restaurants employ more workers than ever, they’re also losing more of them than they are gaining.
